Membership BenefitsThe Rhode Island Veterinary Medical Association was formed in March, 1962 by five veterinarians as a non- profit organization. Applicants paid annual dues of $5.00 to join their colleagues as members. Guided by the principles of veterinary medical ethics, this founding group of veterinarians sought to advance the science and art of veterinary medicine, including its relationship to public health and agriculture, by establishing RIVMA. Their vision of the association 45 years ago remains true to this day. Today RIVMA has grown to include over 200 veterinary members and more than 100 veterinary technicians, practice managers and support staff. We are proud of the traditions established over the years, including our annual low-cost rabies clinics, our low-cost Spay/Neuter Program (SNAP) and our annual Scientific Seminar. As a member of RIVMA you become part of our rich tradition and help us to promote the health and wellness of all animals statewide. Your membership also provides you with: Television opportunity. Once per month an RIVMA member appears on NBC Channel 10 to discuss a topic of his/her choice during the Animal Health segment. Funds from the Companion Animal Foundation. All of us have clients whose income does not permit them to properly care for their pet. As an RIVMA member, you are entitled to a once per year stipend distribution which you can use to offset the cost of pet care for your low income clients. Credit Card Processing Program. Ensures low fees and higher return on credit card processing at your clinic. Discounted Continuing Education rates. You will be able to register for our highly popular annual Scientific Seminar at a reduced cost. Quarterly newsletter. Brings you information from your colleagues, classified advertisements, continuing education listings and more! Website presence. Our statistics show that the public refers to our website in large numbers. Visitors are able to search for veterinarians by geographic location or name. Your name will be included in that listing.
